Overkill... Marvel UK
Posted by Mattattattatt on April 01, 2002 at 22:45:38:

I have the first issue of the Overkill anthology from Marvel UK,
dated April 92 and introducing several British strips...
Unfortunately, I don't have any later issues, so can't comment on
other characters introduced to the series later. One strip features
a notable appearance of Nick Fury and SHIELD.

If anyone wants a brief synopsis of each of the 6-page origins, I
can do that... I was looking for Marvel UK stuff and chanced upon
this board - I'm always heartened by those with perseverance :)

I dunno if you would want the full treatment on Marvel UK stuff,
and I dunno if I have the time at present, but I imagine there
won't be that many copies of this one around, so holler if you do.

I believe Overkill # 1 features:

Hell's Angel
Warheads
a new Knights of Pendragon
Motormouth and Killpower
*possibly* one more

All these strips made it to the US at some point.

I replied all moist-eyed to one of the older Marvel UK threads,
with general missives about what they brought out over here and
the format.

Overkill is, strictly speaking, a reprint book. All of the stories
that appeared in it had already appeared in the "Marvel UK"-imprint
books distributed in America. Therefore, it's those books that
really ought to get the listing in the Chronology Project, not
Overkill.

There was some controversy surrounding this at the time, as Marvel
UK wanted to ban imports of the US-only editions in order to boost
sales of Overkill. This was strenuously resisted by comics stores,
who knew full well that Overkill was only going to reprint half the
story (missing out all the guest appearances). Eventually Marvel
UK caved, allowing UK readers to experience these stories in all
their horror.

As history records, most chose not to bother.

I see...

I was of the impression the anthology came first...

Hang on...

What the hell was Marvel trying to do selling that straight to the
US market? The stories were a poor man's 2000ad vibe-wise, but
2000ad's hardly outsold X-Men in the US, either...

DPOOL3 chronology
Posted by Sean Curtin on April 03, 2002 at 12:26:22:

Chronology for: DPOOL3 1-9, 17-18, 24, 50-56, -1, 0, @ 98, DEADPOOL
TEAM-UP, BABY'S FIRST DEADPOOL BOOK

DEADPOOL vol. 3 #1

I don't have this issue; however, I do have the "Encyclopedia
Deadpoolica" one-shot produced during Marvel's "Deadpool Month",
which summarized it. Any corrections from those who have the actual
issue are welcome.

Characters appearing:
Deadpool
Patch II, T-Ray, C.F., Fenway (first appearances for all)
Weasel
Sasquatch
Blind Al (first appearance)
LeQuarre, Gerry (first appearance)
Culloden, Zoe
DuBois, Noah

Plot synopsis:
Deadpool steals an experimental weapon as he is watched by two
figures (Zoe & Noah). After the theft, he cools down in the
Hellhouse (a mercernary bar), followed by visits to Blind Al (his
roommate-prisoner) and then Gerry (a bum), while we see a glimpse
of the Antarctic Project Michaelangelo, a gamma-powered alternative
energy source run by Sasquatch. Back in the Hellhouse, Deadpool is
hired to destroy Project Michaelangelo. A battle ensues between
Deadpool and Sasquatch, and the gamma core is damaged. Deadpool
enters the core to prevent the core from melting down and decimating
the southern hemisphere. Later, Deadpool is contacted by the
mission's financiers--Zoe & Noah--who tell him that they were
testing him to see if he was really a hero, and that he has a
destiny to fulfill. He tells them to shove it.

Note: The time-travel sequence in #25 occurs during the second
Antarctic sequence in this issue.

DEADPOOL vol. 3 #2
(listed in indicia as vol. 1, but what do they know)
"Operation: That Wacky Doctor's Game!"

Characters appearing:
Deadpool
Siryn
Weasel
Blind Al
various ninjas (all unnamed)
Taskmaster

Plot synopsis:
While Deadpool watches Siryn sleep in the X-Mansion, the Taskmaster
kidnaps his pal Weasel. Deadpool tracks him down, but is defeated
in personal combat by the Taskmaster. Deadpool awakens in Weasel's
cell, where Weasel tells him that he's going to leave his services
to work for the Taskmaster. Taskmaster enters, and, sensing
Weasel's doubts about the decision, decides to use Deadpool as a
live target in a combat demonstration for the students. Deadpool's
middle finger is cut off in the course of the fight. Deadpool
decides to manipulate Taskmaster's photographic reflexes by
fighting completely erratically; Taskmaster, confused and
overwhelmed, is easily defeated and humiliated. Deadpool and
Weasel go home, the end.

Note: Taskmaster has never dressed or talked like this outside of
his Deadpool appearances; according to later Deadpool writer
Christopher Priest, the 'Big Talk' is as much a form of mimicry
as his fighting style is.

DEADPOOL vol. 3 #3
"Stumped! or... This Little Piggy went... Hey! Where's The Piggy?!"

Characters appearing:
Deadpool
T-Ray
Patch (from the Hellhouse, not Wolverine)
C.F.
Weasel
various other Hellhouse patrons (all unnamed)
Blind Al
Siryn
Dr. Killbrew

Plot synopsis:
Deadpool, in the Hellhouse, tries to re-grow the finger he lost
last issue, but his healing factor isn't cooperating (thanks to
the gamma radiation exposure in #1). C.F. delivers a package
containing DP's glove, a map, and a note signed "Black Tom
Cassidy"; Tom had cut off Deadpool's hand in his second miniseries
(it grew back, minus glove). Back home, Blind Al suggests that
Deadpool ask Siryn for help, since Black Tom is her uncle. Siryn
decides to accompany him to keep him from killing Tom. Upon
arriving, they discover that the message was actually from Dr.
Killbrew, the doctor who experimented on him in the Weapon X
project. Siryn convinces Deadpool not to kill Killbrew, and
Killbrew informs Deadpool that he, Deadpool, is dying.

DEADPOOL vol. 3 #4
"Why Is It, To Save Me, I Must Kill You?"

Characters appearing:
Dr. Killbrew
Siryn
Deadpool
The Hulk (during INCREDIBLE HULK #452)

Plot synopsis:
Killbrew, having run tests on Deadpool between issues, verifies
that DP's healing factor will stop working, causing his cancer
to come out of remission as a result of his exposure to gamma
radiation in Antarctica in issue #1, and that another infusion
will cure the degeneration. Cut to a scene of the Hulk throwing
boats into a pile (to create a blockade to protect the island
Duck Key from Hurricane Betty, in INCREDIBLE HULK #452). On the
plane to Duck Key, Deadpool snaps and starts having flashbacks
to the Weapon X Project; Siryn, as usual, calms him down.
Deadpool jumps out of the plane and tries to reason with the
Hulk, but this Hulk is totally uncompassionate. He attacks the
Hulk, but to no avail; the Hulk heals as quickly as he's cut.
'Pool tricks the Hulk into jumping into a broken signpost,
impaling himself. Deadpool muses on how the Hulk is also dying,
but then teleports onto the plane. Back in Killbrew's cabin,
the doctor injects Deadpool with the Hulk-blood-derived serum to
restore his healing factor, and, once that's over with, Deadpool
grabs a scalpel, preparing to kill Killbrew.

Note: This issue takes place during INCREDIBLE HULK #452. The
first scene featuring the Hulk is taken from that issue, and the
rest of the Hulk's appearances take place in the interim after
the military helicopter sights the Hulk but before his encounter
with Janis and the future-Hulk in the issue's cliffhanger. It's
possible that the bearded man giving the Hulk the thumbs-up in
the boat-tossing scene is Mike, the Hulk's appointed sheriff on
Duck Key, but not likely, given that the bearded man is giving
Hulk thumbs-up while Mike disapproved of the Hulk's helping out.

DEADPOOL vol. 3 #5
"The Doctor Is Skinned! ...or, The End Of Our First Story Arc"

Characters appearing:
Deadpool
Dr. Killbrew
Weasel
C.F.
Fenway
T-Ray
Patch
Siryn

Plot synopsis:
While Killbrew is telling Deadpool that the operation was a success,
Deadpool welds together a knife and threatens to kill him with it.
At the Hellhouse, Weasel, while playing pool with CF (the rubbery
guy with the mask) and Fenway (the baseball-haired guy), says
Deadpool's name, which gets T-Ray angry. Meanwhile, in Killbrew's
lab, as Deadpool prepares to kill Killbrew, Siryn finds the door
locked, and screams it off its hinges, then using her scream to
destroy Deadpool's gun. He pulls out a garrote, but Siryn is
standing between him and Killbrew. Killbrew tells her to step
aside, which she does, but when Deadpool tells her to leave the
room, she refuses. Back at the Hellhouse, T-Ray accepts a contract
to kill a mob family and their children, which Patch was going to
throw away in disgust. Back to Killbrew's cabin, where Siryn
convinces Deadpool to let Killbrew live, telling him that she
thinks he's better than that, and that she'll always be there so
that he won't be alone; they leave together. Later, T-Ray is
resting in his lair, contemplating the "job" he just finished, as
we see some interesting things on his back. The issue concludes
with Siryn telling Deadpool that she won't get involved with him
until he straightens himself out, but that she'll always be his
friend.

Observation: In the course of trying to kill Killbrew, Deadpool
wields four weapons: the first scalpel from last issue, the second
one that he welds together at the start of this one, the gun that
Siryn disintegrates, and the garrote that he throws away before
walking out with her. Deadpool is nothing if not well-prepared.
(Although I do have to wonder why he made a scalpel if he had
another one *and* a gun?)

DEADPOOL vol. 3 #6
"Man, Check Out the Head on That Chick!"

Characters appearing:
Typhoid Mary/Mary Walker/Bloody Mary (latter two personalities
destroyed?)
Deadpool
Blind Al
C.F.
Weasel
Patch
Vamp/Animus

Deadpool and Weasel, looking for mercenary work, find two jobs on
the same woman--one to break her out of an asylum, the other to
kill her. They decide to break her out, collect the money, and
then kill her if she deserves it. Upon entering the asylum, the
Vamp attacks Deadpool, who counters with a grenade, leading the
Vamp to transform into Animus. Animus telekinetically knocks
Deadpool through a wall--helpfully, he lands in the cell of the
woman he's supposed to find, Mary Walker. Mary reveals that she
was the one who hired Deadpool to kill her, but Deadpool drags
her out, causing her Mary Walker persona to "die" and the Bloody
Mary persona to take over, who would rather escape on her own
without some man helping her. Too bad for her, Weasel hits Animus
with a truck and Bloody Mary "dies", leaving only the third
personality, Typhoid Mary. Upon escaping with Deadpool, Typhoid
reveals that Bloody Mary hired the Vamp to kill him.

Note: At least the editor remembers that the Vamp is supposed to
be dead. DEADPOOL #0, which came with an issue of Wizard, revealed
that the Vamp seen here was cloned by Arnim Zola, though whether or
not DP #0 is canon is in the air (if not, we can assume that the
Vamp has a healing factor or something).

DEADPOOL vol. 3 #-1
"Paradigm Lost"

Characters appearing:
Overboss Dixon
Culloden, Zoe
Montgomery
Copycat/Vanessa
Deadpool/"Wade Wilson"

Zoe, newly promoted to her job as Expediter, meets Montgomery and
is informed by Dixon that Monty's visions have eliminated "Wade
Wilson" as a candidate for the Mithras project. She tries to
change this by entering his life, befriending his girlfriend
Vanessa (not yet "Copycat") in the process. At the end, Wilson
learns that he has cancer, causing him to drive Vanessa away and
his chances for the Mithras project to bottom out.

DEADPOOL vol. 3 #7
"Typhoid... It Ain't Just Fer Cattle Anymore, or Head Trips"

Characters appearing:
Typhoid Mary
Deadpool
Weasel
T-Ray
Blind Al
Fenway
C.F.
Patch
LeQuarre, Gerry
Typhoid attacks Deadpool, thinking to kill him to avoid having to
pay him for rescuing her. He survives, of course, and suggests
that she take a job at the Hellhouse. T-Ray warns Weasel about
his plans for Deadpool (i.e. he's gonna kill him). Weasel visits
Blind Al to get a warning to Deadpool, but she makes him leave,
afraid of what Deadpool would do to them if he caught someone
there. Back at the Hellhouse, we learn that Typhoid and T-Ray
have a past together; T-Ray confronts Deadpool about having
brought a genuinely sick person into his world. Fight ensues.
Deadpool's mask is burned off by T-Ray's kanji-inscribed Post-Its
of Doom, and he rushes to find something to cover his face with,
knocking Mary out the window in a sequence cribbed from DAREDEVIL:
THE MAN WITHOUT FEAR. Mary remembers this, and decides that she
has to kill Daredevil. Continued into DAREDEVIL/DEADPOOL '97.

Note: This issue and DD '97 both establish Typhoid Mary as the
prostitute who was seemingly killed by Matt Murdock in the quasi-
apocryphal THE MAN WITHOUT FEAR.

DEADPOOL vol. 3 #8
"We Don't Need Another Hero..."

Characters appearing:
Deadpool
Blind Al
Deuce (the dog)
Typhoid Mary
Weasel
Fenway
C.F.
LeQuare, Gerry
Montgomery
Culloden, Zoe
DuBois, Noah

Blind Al plots revenge on Deadpool for sticking her with Deuce
the dog after the Annual. Elsewhere, Deadpool ponders what to
do with Typhoid, having tied her up in a warehouse. She escapes,
and threatens to kill someone every twenty minutes, wanting to
prove to him that he isn't any good at being a hero. Zoe et al.
monitor the events unfolding, and Zoe decides to get personally
involved. Deadpool finally finds Mary, and beats her nearly to
death, having been convinced by her that he's no less of a monster
than she is.

DEADPOOL vol. 3 #9
"Ssshhhhhhhhhhhhhh! or Heroes Reburned"

Characters appearing:
Blind Al
Deadpool
Fenway
Patch
C.F.
Deathtrap
Deuce

Deadpool exits "the Box", his personal torture chamber, after
the disaster with Typhoid, and decides to prove her wrong by
returning to the Hellhouse and taking a morally-upright job for
free. Right on cue, a mysterious stranger appears, and takes
Deadpool away to save a princess. (A blatant lie, of course.)
The stranger abducts Deadpool, puts him in a infant-themed
deathtrap, and announces himself as Deathtrap. He rigs up a
device to crush Deadpool by lowering a weighted, spiked, stuffed
teddy bear (!) every time Deadpool speaks; he escapes by
jabbering so much that the bear picks up enough speed to break
his restraints upon impact. Meanwhile, Blind Al muses about
having sabotaged Deadpool's weapons, and right on cue, Deadpool's
weapons break. Defenseless, Deadpool, still talking, amuses
Deathtrap enough for him to be let go.

BABY'S FIRST DEADPOOL BOOK

Listed as BFDPOOLB in the chronologies below.

First story:
"Make Way for Deadpool!"

Characters appearing:
Deadpool
Blind Al

Deadpool and Blind Al flee from the carnage of an aquarium, and
teleport across the country, resulting in wacky hijinx with the
police.

Note: This story is the only actual story in here that could be
canon within reason; if so, it best fits in the characters'
chronologies after DPOOL3 11.

DEADPOOL vol. 3 #17
"You Want Me to Do What?!"

Characters appearing:
Culloden, Zoe
Overboss Dixon
Deadpool
Blind Al
Dr. Killbrew
Ajax II/Francis
Herbert
Montgomery
DuBois, Noah

Dixon tells Zoe to prepare Deadpool for the Mithras Directive.
On Earth, Blind Al's stoic servant-like demeanor is vexing
Deadpool; he leaves for LL&L. Elsewhere, Ajax has caught up with
Dr. Killbrew. Deadpool bumps into Herbert, the exploding head
boy from #15, and the rest of the LL&L crew brief him on the
Mithras Directive, the Messiah, and Tiamat the Destroyer.
Deadpool rejects the Mithras offer, and Dixon tells Noah to
contact their backup. Meanwhile, Ajax is torturing Killebrew,
who gives up Deadpool's teleporter's frequency. Back at LL&L,
Monty tells Deadpool's future again, convincing all that Deadpool
might be the Mithras after all. Deadpool returns home and boards
up the Box, and tries to let Blind Al leave, but at that moment
Ajax teleports him away, leading immediately into the Annual.

DEADPOOL/DEATH ANNUAL '98
"A Kiss, A Curse, A Cure"

Characters appearing:
Deadpool (also in -FB)
Ajax II/the Attending/Francis (also in -FB)
Death (also in -FB)
unnamed Canadian General overseeing the Weapon X Project (-FB)
Guardian/Vindicator/James Hudson (-FB)
Worm/"Worm" Cunningham (also in -FB; dies in -FB)
Jacques, Todd & Steve (also in -FB)
Hoek, R. (one-panel appearance in -FB; Weapon X reject)
Dr. Killebrew (-FB)

Deadpool is teleported to Ajax, who knocks him off a cliff, killing
him. Death appears, triggering a flashback to Wade Wilson's
arrival at the Weapon X Project. He is gretted by the general
running the Project, and sees Vindicator flying overhead. Later,
inside the Project, Worm is taking bets on the "Dead Pool" to see
how long it takes the various Weapon X participants/experiments to
die. He sees Wilson, who is planning on using a concealed gun to
kill himself--but the Attending sees the weapon and brings Wilson
to Killebrew, who experiments on him. Back in his cell, Deadpool
contemplates Death, and sees her in person, much to their mutual
surprise. He falls in love with her, and decides to make the
Attending kill him, but humiliating him just gets Wilson tortured
further. Worm lets slip that the Attending's name in Francis,
which Deadpool uses to drive him over the edge in a final public
humiliation; in retaliation, Francis turns Worm into a mental
vegetable. Wilson kills Worm out of pity, an act which gets him
killed in turn by Killebrew; but as soon as he is alone and Death
appears, Wilson's new healing factor kicks in. He steals a gun,
and blazes his way out of the Project, killing many guards on the
way, including Francis, and taking the other experiments with him.
Back in the present, we see that Ajax is Francis, and the ghosts
of Ajax's victims (Worm, Todd, Steve, Jacques) appear. They tell
Deadpool that he was reborn to make Francis pay, and Francis was
reborn to make him sufffer; one must kill the other for the ghosts
to be put to rest. Deadpool re-enters his body and pursues Ajax.

Note: the exact chronological placement of Vindicator is kind of
fuzzy; hes only seen in on panel but is referred to as Vindicator.
Ive placed this appearance shortly prior to UX 120 in the
chronology.

DEADPOOL vol. 3 #18
"Karmic Relief"

Characters appearing:
Brubaker, Ilaney
Deadpool
Ajax II/Francis
Dr. Killebrew
Worm Cunningham, Jacques, Todd, Steve (all ghosts)

Deadpool corners Ilaney Brubaker, who has rescued Killebrew off-
panel and is looking for a place to hide him. Ajax tracks them
down, and an avalanche destroys Ilaney's cabin. They stop and
make a campfire, and the ghosts return, telling Deadpool that he
must kill Ajax; when he asks Killebrew how he can do it, Killebrew
confesses that he doesn't know if it can be done. Ajax appears.

DEADPOOL vol. 3 #0

Characters appearing:
Deadpool
Vamp/Animus (killed again)
Zola, Arnim
Blind Al
clones of: Bird-Man, Basilisk, Salem's Seven, Porcupine I, Mirage I,
the Golden Age Whizzer, Bucky I, Egghead, El Jaguar, Ringer I,
Cyclone I, Red Raven, Turner D. Century, Kangaroo I, Aunt May,
Uncle Ben, and Gwen Stacy

Deadpool feeds some unnamed Texan to his own dogs, and spots Animus.
He tracks it down to Arnim Zola's base and kills it and a bunch of
other clones; when threatened with death, Zola gives Deadpool
several Gwen Stacy clones (and matching French maid uniforms) for
use around the house.

Note: Given the ending and the "sacrilegious" nature of the story,
DEADPOOL #0 might not be canon. If it is, though, it would best
fit in between DEADPOOL #20 & 21, given the date of publication.
(What happened to the Gwen clones? Duh--clone degeneration!)

DEADPOOL TEAM-UP Starring Deadpool and Widdle Wade #1

Listed as DPOOLTU in the chronologies below.

Characters appearing:
Shigeru/"Shiggy" (dies)
Chantal (Shigerus girlfriend; probably not worth including)
Beyonder
Deadpool
Boss (apparently his actual name; dies)
Widdle Wade (dies)
C.F.
Patch II
Fenway (maybe, in one panel)
Oyakata (name unrevealed)
Iron Chef/Sazae
Daruma

Deadpool is seen fighting the Beyonder; in the fight, Deadpool's
blood is spilled, and is collected by Shigeru, who brings it to
"Boss" for use in creating the perfect assassin--a two-foot
Deadpool clone called Widdle Wade. In the present, said crook
tells said assassin that his next target, the Oyakata, isn't to be
killed; in response, he kills him and says he'll do it anyways.
"Boss" hires Deadpool at the Hellhouse to protect the Oyakata.
The Oyakata recognizes Deadpool as "Chiyo", and his daughter Sazae
decks Deadpool on sight, triggering a flashback to Deadpool's
first encounter with Boss, Oyakata, and Sazae. Prior to meeting
Copycat, he was hired by the Boss to inflitrate the Oyakata's sumo
wrestling stable, and became Oyakata's best sumo wrestler in the
process (!). Sazae fell for him, then he found out that he was
now supposed to kill the Oyakata; instead, he left. In the present,
Deadpool investigates unsolved Yakuza-related killings, and finds
that the Oyakata was the only suspect. Sazae finds the police file
that Deadpool stole, and he tells her about it. Widdle Wade and
his super-dog, Daruma, ambush the two of them. Widdle leaves to
kill Oyakata, but is distracted by Deadpool stealing Daruma; the
two Wades confront each other and Widdle is accidentally killed.
The Oyakata tells Deadpool to either help him or never come back;
he leaves, and tells Sazae that he was the one who did the killings
in the file, so she decks him. Deadpool returns to the Boss, and
in retaliation for creating and using Widdle, he siccs the man-
eating Daruma on him.

Note: The introduction puts the beginning in SECRET WARS II #3,
and I'd narrow it down to the gap of several days after Vinnie
leaves the Beyonder, but before he goes on a cruise and confronts
the Kingpin. (Ack, I read an issue of SECRET WARS II; I feel
dirty.) I'm arbitrarily putting the present-day sequences right
after DEADPOOL #0 in the chronology, again, based on the date of
publication.

Spidey chronology
Posted by Alex Nahvi on April 05, 2002 at 00:43:47:

Hey Russ... I'm not sure if this is the best way to get ahold of
you, but I just wanted to point out a slight typo in your Spider-
Man chrono. When ASM 8 is listed it doesn't mention the difference
between ASM 8/1 and ASM 8/2. This made me confused because I
thought that he ASM 8/2 story took place much later in the
chronology. So scrolling down I noticed that you DID have ASM 8/2
listed where it should be. So, just a notice that you might want
to list ASM 8 as ASM 8/1 in the chronology, that way anal people
like myself won't be distraught. :p Thnx for the great site!

From the Key page

/ A story other than the first story in a given issue. Example:
TOS 77/2 would be the second story in Tales of Suspense #77

In other words, as I understanding, the first story of an issue
NEVER gets the "/number" format.

Just a thought... does anyone consider the Ultimate lineups to be

be a tragic waste of time if so...

Hey, I'm new here but I had to mail. When the Ultimate concept was
introduced and did indeed show concern than the new Ultimate Verse
would replace the traditional 616 universe. With the news that the
Ultimate Verse is resurrecting dead characters (Kraven, Colossus,
Moira MacTaggert, Psylocke etc) it does indeed seem that one day
this reality could take over. I hope not though.

Varnae post-resurrection appearances

Does anyone know what comics Varnae, Lord of the Vampires appeared
in after his resurrection in Dr.Strange:Sorceror Supreme 18? I
think he appeared in an issue of Nightstalkers, but I'm not sure.
Thanks,

Also, try Blade the Vampire Hunter series #4 &5(4 doesn't really
have him, but 5 doesn't make much sense without it) Also, Varnea
isn't in Midnight Sons #6, he is just mentioned by Dr. Strange.
The vampire in 6 is an other Old vampire.

Moon Knight vs. Man-Wolf
Posted by Glenn Hall on April 10, 2002 at 01:01:25:

I have been searching high and low for an old comic that I
remember having as a kid. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to locate
it. I was wondering if anyone here on the board remembers it.
Normally I would be able to use the chronology to find the issue
but the particular comic that I am looking for is not listed at
all (determined after cross-referencing the entries for both Moon
Knight and Man-Wolf). Here is what I know. . .

The issue was from either the late 70s or early 80s and featured
a wicked battle between Moon Knight and Man-Wolf. I know Moon
Knight was involved because he was using his crescent darts on his
opponent and I know it was Man-Wolf and not the Werewolf because
the character was carrying the very distinctive sword and armor
used by the former. I believe Moon Knight was actually hunting
the Man-Wolf and the big chase scene may have taken place in a
space station (that's what I seem to recall anyway).

I have looked everywhere for this comic but without knowing
which actual title it falls under it will be all but impossible to
find. I would love to find myself a copy of that particular comic
again and any help that I can get would be well appreciated. Does
anyone else remember the comic that I am talking about?

Thanks and take care.

Glenn

Glenn,

I am a big Moon Kinght fan and have many of his appearances. I
have some Man-Wolf apps., but following the index on this site,
along with my own collection, I can't find any instance where
Man-Wolf and Moon Knight meet. I could be wrong, but nothing
found so far. Moon Knight and Werewolf-by- Night have met up
many times, including the classic Moon Knight 29 + 30 story by
Bill Sienkiewicz and Doug Moench.

Sounds like you're blending a few books, there.

posted by Glenn Hall on April 10, 2002 at 01:01:25:

You seem like you're definitely confusing two distinctly different
battles, my friend. The Man-Wolf only used the sword and armor in
a very few appearances, once he became Star-God, I believe...and
that would have been in the last few issues of CREATURES ON THE
LOOSE (one, #37, took place on a space station), then in MARVEL
PREMIERE #45-46, and then, one last time, in SAVAGE SHE-HULK #13-14.
It was after that that John Jameson regressed to his "normal"
Man-Wolf state for no good reason other than so he could be
"cured" in PETER PARKER, THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL #3,
in 1981.

Meanwhile, the Werewolf, Jack Russell, encountered Moon Knight on
a fairly regular basis for a good long run, from WEREWOLF BY NIGHT
#32-33 and 37, most notably.

I am thinking--and this is a stretch all the way to left field--that
the character you're thinking of may have looked like Man-Wolf but
was not, in fact, he. I remember, however vaguely, a back-up story
of Moon Knight in a couple issues of THE HULK! magazine about a guy
who seemed to become a silver-haired creature of the night. I can
try digging up more details if you like...those magazines are tucked
away neatly, but if it is important to you, I'll do my best and
report back in a few days.

Best,

-Gary

Hey Glenn,

Moon Knight faced off against a werewolf named Lupinar in Hulk!
Magazine # 13 and 14, published in 1979 (which was reprinted in
"Moon Knight: The Special Edition" in 1983). Lupinar fought with
a sword against MK, but no armor. There was no big chase scene
in a space station, either. The plot consisted of MK foiling a
nuclear attack against NYC, which was masterminded by Lupinar. I
hope this helps you out a little.
                                    Good Luck,

Sorry for the delayed reaction--I had completely forgetten that
I had posted my question here. I'd really like to thank all of you
who responded. The information you guys supplied me with helped me
track down just what it was I was thinking about. Drumroll please. . .

I was indeed putting two different comics together in my head.
After doing some web searching, using the info you guys supplied,
I was able to peek at some cover art for most of the possible issues
that it could have been and two of them struck gold. Creatures On
The Loose #36 is the source of my memories of Man-Wolf fighting in
a space station. The fellow in the green spacesuit also pictures
on the cover helped confirm those memories (not to mention the fact
that the artist for that issue was George Perez and I have always
been a huge fan of his very distinctive art). Werewolf By Night
#32 is the source of the Moon Knight half of the memories. As soon
as I saw the cover picture with the Werewolf on his knees and
several crescent darts sticking out of him I instantly recognized
it. Now I really wish I had treated my comics better as a kid--that
one is actually worth a fair bit of money since it was actually
Moon Knight's first appearance in print. Sigh.

Well, at least I have finally laid that great mystery to rest.
I'm going to try to get my hands on copies of both comics, though
the Werewolf By Night issue will be hard to find at an affordable
price (mind you, I'm a comic reader not collector so I can always
hunt for a less than pristine copy). Thanks again for the help--I
can sleep much easier now that I know I was only partially
imagining the great Moon Knight vs. Man-Wolf showdown. :)

"Lady Mastermind" and "Mastermind IV" are, sadly, the SAME CHARACTER.
Her appearances and re-naming in X-Treme X-Men are Claremont's
fault -- although he gave her a totally different name and an
altered codename, he STILL had Gambit allude to having met her
(in the "Victims" miniseries).

To his credit, Joe Casey mentioned in the latest UXM that
"Martinique Jason" might be an alias. It's up in the air right
now as to whether her XX or UX appearances are first, but I'd bet
on her XX appearances coming before the UX ones. Time will
hopefully tell.

Logic strongly suggests this must be the case. While the stories
overlap in publication terms, her X-Treme X-Men appearance ends
with her being hospitalised, and her first UX appearance (in the
silent issue) has her being kidnapped from a hospital by Madroxes.

Secret Wars Chronology
Posted by Kevin Arcoraci on April 14, 2002 at 00:02:48:

I'm sure this has probably been asked before, but...

What is the exact order of all of the Secret Wars events; What is
the order of ALL of the cross-over issues of the heroes involved?

I almost remember seeing a list before.

Please help if you can.

It's hard to give an exact chronology of all Secret Wars crossovers
where the heroes left because there's no way to tell how far apart
each hero or group left. Likewise, in the comics where they return,
most of them depict some of the same events, so you'd have to break
it down almost at the panel level. I think this is more work than
any of us care to do.

You can find a complete list of Secret Wars crossovers that I
compiled at
http://members.tripod.com/~MitchellBrown/xover/marvel_secretwars.html

For a partial continuity, see the Beyonder's MCP entry. I think the
only thing you might consider missing is an implicit BTS appearance
in T 383-FB.

Of course, if you meant Secret Wars *II*, all bets are off and I
completely surrender to whatever the Beyonder's entry says.

The What IF #36 is the first series. As a long time time
Nova fan (any others???), there is a 100% What IF Nova (issue
#16) "What if Nova had been 4 other people." This issue had Peter
Parker receiving the Nova power, but it would have been more
interesting if Peter had his spider powers plus the power of Nova
and became the "Amazing Spider-NOVA."

If any one reads this out in Marvel land, how about bringing
back What IF and making this "Spider-Nova" story a reality??? My
complaint with What IF is too many X-person stories. Well, Eric
Larsen, your a well known Nova fan. how about it????

would fit in between AF10 and AF12 chronologically and logically.

Spidey in Graphic Novels (again)
Posted by Brian C on April 17, 2002 at 11:38:59:

Hi,

I was just wondering about "Parallel Lives". Has it been determined
when the non-flashback battle at the end takes place? The last entry
I see regarding the story is after ASM@21, when Doc Ock's drone is
spying on Peter and MJ's wedding. Then, right before Ock's attack,
MJ mentions Pete going back to school, buying their condo, and
getting thrown out of their condo (ASM 309). MJ says that she and
Peter will have Aunt May over for dinner next time, suggesting that
they already live in Harry Osborn's warehouse loft(ca. ASM 320), but
not positively.

Also, what about "Spirits Of The Earth" and "Fear Itself"? Are they
concidered out of continuity?

While I'm at it, I have 3 tough Spidey comics (all seem to be fill-
inn issues) that don't seem to fit in either.

The Spider-Man/Hulk story in MTU 126 can't seem to be placed. It
occured before Hulk 277, but I'm sure there are plenty of instances
of Hulk being in NYC before then. I think this one is a lost cause.

PPTSSM 130 is listed in chronological order, but should almost
definetly be between ASM@15 and PPTSSM 72. Spider-Man appears in
his "red-and-blues" in this black costume era story, and Ock has
no fear of Spider-Man, which he overcame in ASM 296-297.

Also, in PPTSSM 120, Glory Grant is still Peter's neighbor, placing
the story earlier. I can't remember in which issue she moves out of
Mrs. Muggins' apartment house, though.

If anyone has any thoughts, I'd appreciate them, mostly regarding
the Graphic Novels. Thanks!

Brian

another Man-Thing error
Posted by Scott Hutchins on April 19, 2002 at 22:12:54:

Despite what is listed on the chronology, Iron Man Annual #3 MUST
come after The Incredible Hulk #197-198. It seems to continue
directly from Giant-Size Man-Thing #1, though there is no definite
place to put it other than before Iron Man Annual #3, because
nothing has been done to Omegaville, which Tony Stark is rebuilging
in Iron Man Annual #3. The Chronology Project erroneously lists
these issues taking place immediately after, which makes no sense.

be a little clearer on your "it"'s, I can make the proper

What is "It" here: Iron Man Annual #3, or Hulk #197-198?

What is "it" here: Giant-Size Man-Thing #1, or Hulk #197-198.
Presumably, "it" is not Iron Man Annual #3.

What are "these issues", which take place immediately after what?

Tell us what you think is the correct order for a particular
character's chronology, and why you think we're wrong, and we'll
investigate, although it may take time.

H 197-198 before IM@3. While it may be earlier, there's no real
way to tell, and it would be the smallest possible change.

Howard the Duck corrections
Posted by DCW3 on April 27, 2002 at 23:16:51:

I've been flipping through the "Essential Howard the Duck" and
noticed a few problems with your chronology of the issues reprinted.
First, Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson make a brief appearance in
Marvel Treasury Edition #12 that isn't listed for either. Second,
Dr. Strange, Omega, Spider-Man and Beverly Switzler are all listed
as appearing in Howard the Duck #10, but the entire issue takes place
within Howard's mind, and these appearances are all hallucinations.
Finally, Dr. Strange's chronology lists HTD 8 as taking place before
M/TE 12, but HTD 8 follows directly from M/TE 12. (It's correct in
Howard and Beverly's chronologies.)

Heroes Reborn was an artificial universe created by Franklin Richards
so that his family and their friends wouldn't really die. Once the
Reborn heroes Returned, the HR Earth was placed in the "real" Marvel
Universe, and is the new Counter-Earth, appearing in the pages of
_Thunderbolts._

MC2 is a future timeline that started out in an issue of _What If_
featuring Spider-Man's teenage daughter, Spider-Girl, who recieved
her own ongoing series. Most of the other MC2 characters are likewise
the children of popular Marvel heroes.

UX 20 placement in Professor X chronology
Posted by Sean Curtin on April 28, 2002 at 15:38:32:

Shouldn't the placement of UX 20-FB in Professor X's chronology occur
later than it does? The flashback in this issue shows how he loses
the use of his legs, but several flashbacks occuring before this are
listed as having occured afterwards in the MCP. UX 12's flashbacks
should all occur much earlier in his chronology than they do--all but
one of them are set before his military career. Also: where is the
flashback in UX 9?
